We also offer Art Therapy sessions for clients whom do not feel talk-based or cognitive ways of engaging in therapy will be supportive for them.
We work from an interpersonal, humanistic, and person-centred framework, which means the quality of the relationship between the therapist and client is genuine, empathic, and unconditionally accepting with the underlying belief you have what it takes to fulfil your own potential.
We pride ourselves on creating a therapeutic space which allows you to take the lead in session. This approach to therapy moves away from the traditional hierarchical, “therapist is the expert” position to a more authentic and personable experience.
Care For Your Mind offers individual face-to-face, phone and online counselling.
Counselling can provide a space and a relationship whereby you can safely self-explore while being supported unconditionally to move in the direction of where you’d like to go. As therapists who works from a person-centred framework you are supported to navigate through your concerns while drawing upon evidence-based tools and strategies to support you.
Research has consistently showed that accessing counselling facilitates positive changes in the brain, whereby unhelpful patterns of behaviour are decreased and movement towards more helpful patterns in relation to feeling, thinking and being are evident. Ultimately, counselling provides you with a space to gain clarity, feel supported, heard, and understood which is different to speaking to a friend, spouse or family member.
This answer is entirely dependent on your circumstances. Counselling is most effective when attended consistently, particularly when you first begin. Generally speaking, weekly or fortnightly sessions are recommended to begin with, and over time this would slowly decrease as you work through your concerns, however this fluid and entirely dependent on the complexity of the issues and challenges you may be facing.
Please discuss with your therapist about your needs and situation, and work together to decide what would work best for you.
Counselling is a safe and confidential process which usually is talk based to unpack and explore your concerns, however non-verbal ways of exploring your concerns may also be utilised to support you. There is no one approach which works for everyone. You and your therapist will work together collaboratively to decide what approach would feel most supportive for you.
Counselling is an investment in living a more integrated, whole and meaningful life, where you feel better equipped to navigate the complexities that can come with day to day living.
